Beginner Punch Needle with Kazuko Stone - Tuesday, July 15th!
Abstract
Punch Needle Rug Hooking is a fast and easy craft using an ergonomic Oxford punch needle. In this beginner-friendly class, you will learn all the basics of punch needle rug making while making a 4" x 4" design. These adorable small projects make a fabulous ornament or mug rug.
Materials
The following materials for the class are curated to facilitate your learning experience. These supplies are not included and must be purchased separately.
Supplies provided:
- All materials!
- The materials needed for the entire project are provided in the class. This is a rare opportunity to try something new with no equipment investment.
- Included are the pattern drawn out on monk's cloth, yarn to finish the piece, and finishing materials.
- An Oxford punch needle and frame will be provided for your use during the class and retuned at the conclusion.
Supplies you are required to bring:
- Small sharp pointed scissors
- Paper & Pen/Pencil for note taking

This class meets for up to 3 hours on July 15, 2025 from 1:00pm-4:00pm CST. Please contact us with any questions about registration.
Where
This class is held here in our studio at Icon Fiber Arts, 590 Redbird Circle, De Pere, WI 54115. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow yourself time to get situated. Class starts promptly at 1:00pm. Please notify us prior to the class if you need any accommodations in our learning area.
About the Instructor
Kazuko has been working with fiber arts such as knitting, weaving, spinning, and chemical and natural dying since she moved to the States from Japan in 1985. She started traditional rug hooking and punch needle rug hooking in 2004 and became an Oxford Certified Instructor in 2025. Her rugs are featured in the books Design Like an Artist and The Haunted Rug by Deana David. Kaz devoted 30 years to teaching high school students, is passionate about teaching, and is excited about sharing her knowledge and skills of punch needle rug hooking with others.
Attendance & Cancellations
This class is a group style class with a minimum of 2 students to go forward and a maximum of 8 students. In the event that a class cannot meet minimum enrollment, it will be cancelled 24 hours in advance. Full refunds will be provided for attendees for classes that don't meet minimum enrollment.
Cancellations: A refund will be provided to attendees if notice is sent 72 hours in advance of the scheduled class. There is no refund or partial refund for the class for missing the session. You may transfer your reservation to another person if your cancellation is within 72 hours before the start of class. In the unlikely event of inclement weather that would prevent the class from meeting, the class will be extended and rescheduled as determined by the Instructor. Please contact us promptly for any changes required in a reservation.
