Introduction to Spinning (On a Wheel) - All Fiber Arts Retreat 2024
Regular price $ 39.00 Save $ -39.00Abstract
Come and spin yarn while friends with your wheel! We will go through the very beginning steps of spinning. We will prep our fiber and not only spin it but then ply it into yarn. Along the way you'll learn the names of the parts of your wheel, a few maintenance tips, and set your mind at ease about things like ratios and twists per inch.
Pre-work:
With no fiber, just practice treadling as slowly as possible in one direction (clockwise). How excruciatingly slow can you go? Ideally practice this a few times.

About the Instructor
Maud LaMarche - I am a huge fan of all things string. I spin, dye, knit, crochet, tat, embroider, and weave. I love ancient and antique fiber tools and collect them just to figure out how they work. Wool is almost exclusively my medium and I love to gather the history and lore of my skills. A storyteller by nature, nothing is more fun than mixing the art, history, passion and skills into the teaching of these ancient techniques. I have been teaching knitting and spinning in Central Wisconsin for almost 20 years. Besides playing with wool most of my days, I have three adult daughters and three granddaughters. I love flat-track roller derby, the 15,086 inland lakes of Wisconsin, and fine coffee made on a campfire.
