Stranded Colorwork Class with Meredith Muncy - All Fiber Arts Retreat 2023

Abstract

An endless world of color and creativity await you as we explore knitting with two colors at once! Learn the skills you need to start tackling the Fair Isle, Norwegian, or Scandinavian design you've had your heart set on. The class is a project based session and participants will make the Brigda Cowl by Vikki Perkins/Victonary Designs as a sample of the technique.

Prerequisites: Students must be able to demonstrate the following techniques prior to the start of class: Knitting in the round, Knit, Purl, Knit 2 together, and Slip slip knit.

Pre-Work: Students must arrive to class with the following set up work completed: Cast on 144 stitches, ideally with the crochet hook method, joined in the round, and 6 rows of K4, P2 done. That's the set up for the project!

Materials

The following materials for the class are curated to facilitate your learning experience. Some of these supplies are included and some must be purchased separately. The fee for this class is only for the instruction and supplies provided by the instructor.

Supplies provided by the Instructor:

• The pattern will be provided during the class. We will be making the Brigda Cowl by Vikki Perkins/Victonary Designs
  

Supplies you are required to bring:  

• Yarn: 2 contrasting colors of Medium #4 / Worsted Weight yarn. NOTE: Your colors can contrast as much as you like!
  
• Color 1: 1 ball of worsted weight #4, at least 100 grams and 180 yards 
  
• Color 2: 1 ball of worsted weight #4, at least 100 grams and 180 yards 
• Size US 8 / 5.00mm circular needle with a 16"-22" cord
• Scissors
• Yarn / Tapestry Needle
• Paper and pencil/pen for note taking
• Project bag and/or cases to organize your materials

This class meets for up to 2 hours on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 10:00am-12:00pm CST. Please contact us with any questions about registration. 

Where

Conference Room 3. This class is held during the All Fiber Arts Retreat 2023 at the Stone Harbor Resort & Conference Center in Sturgeon Bay, WI. A conference room is reserved for our use at the back of the main festival space. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow yourself time to get situated. Class will begin and end promptly within the agreed upon times with the instructor as scheduled. Please notify us prior to the class if you need any accommodations.

Meredith Muncy, KnitzAndPearls Fiberworks

Meredith Muncy is the owner of KnitzAndPearls Fiberworks, and also a blessed and happy wife, mother, and cat mom! Meredith specializes in dyeing beautiful materials for the modern fiber artist. You can find her yarn on etsy and KnitzAndPearls website. She aspires to live a quiet housewife life, surrounded by friends, knitting, and keeping a peaceful home.

Attendance & Cancellations

This class is a group style seminar with a minimum of 2 students to go forward and a maximum of 8 students. If the class minimum is not met, a full refund will be provided. A refund will be provided to attendees if notice is sent 3 business days in advance of the scheduled class. There is no refund or partial refund for the class for missing the session. You may transfer your reservation to another person if your cancellation is within the 3 business days before the start of class. In the unlikely event of inclement weather that would prevent the class from meeting, the class will be extended and rescheduled as determined by the Instructor. Please contact us promptly for any changes required in a reservation.
