Super Bulky Mittens Class with Whitney Gross - All Fiber Arts Retreat 2023

Abstract

Learn to knit up a pair of super bulky mittens super-fast using Malabrigo's Rasta yarn.

Techniques covered: Increasing stitches, backwards loop cast on, decreasing stitches, kitchener stitch (grafting), picking up stitches

Prerequisites: Students must be able to demonstrate the following techniques prior to the start of class: Knit in the round on small circumference (Magic Loop or DPNs)

Materials

The following materials for the class are curated to facilitate your learning experience. Some of these supplies are included and some must be purchased separately. The fee for this class is only for the instruction and supplies provided by the instructor.

Supplies provided by the Instructor:

• The pattern will be provided during the class. 

• 1 Skein Malabrigo Rasta or other super bulky weight #6 yarn;
• Size US 10 / 6.00mm needles in either double pointed or circular set up for Magic Loop
• Size US 11 / 8.00mm needles in either double pointed or circular set up for Magic Loop
• Waste yarn
• Scissors
• Yarn / Tapestry Needle
• Paper and pencil/pen for note taking
• Project bag and/or cases to organize your materials

This class meets for up to 2 hours on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 10:00am-12:00pm CST. Please contact us with any questions about registration. 

Where

Conference Room 1. This class is held during the All Fiber Arts Retreat 2023 at the Stone Harbor Resort & Conference Center. A conference room is reserved for our use at the back of the main festival space. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow yourself time to get situated. Class will begin and end promptly within the agreed upon times with the instructor as scheduled. Please notify us prior to the class if you need any accommodations.

Attendance & Cancellations

This class is a group style seminar with a minimum of 3 students to go forward and a maximum of 8 students. If the class minimum is not met, a full refund will be provided. A refund will be provided to attendees if notice is sent 3 business days in advance of the scheduled class. There is no refund or partial refund for the class for missing the session. You may transfer your reservation to another person if your cancellation is within the 3 business days before the start of class. In the unlikely event of inclement weather that would prevent the class from meeting, the class will be extended and rescheduled as determined by the Instructor. Please contact us promptly for any changes required in a reservation.
