Mark your calendars, friends! On Saturday, October 3rd, we are welcoming Shannon Dunbabin, co-owner and Creative Director of Cascade Yarns, to Icon Fiber Arts for a full day of yarn, inspiration, and community. We are calling it Cascade Day, and it is one of the biggest days we've planned all year.

Shannon joined Cascade Yarns in 2003. She is a self-taught knitter and crocheter who, in her own words, serves as Cascade's "head yarn wrangler and chaos creator." She loves all things yarn, and we think you're going to love spending the day with her.

The Day at a Glance

All day: A special Cascade Day discount for attendees. Everyone who registers receives a code for 10% off all Cascade yarns, good in the store and online on Cascade Day only. Your code arrives in your registration confirmation email.
10:00am to 4:00pm: Cascade Yarns Trunk Show. Shannon is bringing nearly 80 Cascade garments and samples, hand-picked to show off a mix of knit and crochet and a wide range of techniques. Come see them up close, try them on, and find your next project.
All day: The Yarn Tasting Hunt. Check in at the counter to pick up your tasting card, then hunt the store for each yarn on it. Every tasting sits right beside its display, so you can squish the sample, see the full skein, and compare the colors. You'll get a door prize slip just for coming in, plus one more for every $50 you spend. Door prizes are drawn after the event, and winners will be notified.
11:00am to 1:00pm: Intro to Mosaic Knitting with Shannon. One color per row, slipped stitches do the magic, and you leave with the Mosaic Options Mix and Match pattern for a scarf, a blanket, or a wrap. $20, limited to 12 seats.
2:00pm to 4:30pm: Stitch Sampler Crochet Poncho with Shannon. Build your crochet stitch vocabulary while you make something you'll actually wear. $20, limited to 12 seats.

Registration for the trunk show and Yarn Tasting is free. Signing up simply helps us plan, so we know how many friends to expect. If you're taking a workshop, please add the free registration to your cart too!

Because Shannon is joining us from Cascade, both workshops are a celebration of Cascade yarn from start to finish. Workshop materials are sold separately and are available right here at Icon, so stop in before Saturday or pick them up the day of. If you'd like to go off-script with a different color or base, we'll happily help you find another Cascade yarn that suits the pattern beautifully.

A Brand New Yarn: Suri Seda

Suri Seda is a dreamy blend of baby suri alpaca and silk with a soft halo and a gentle sheen. We brought in all 20 colors, from Cocoa and Frosted Almond to Opal Blue and Soft Lilac.
